Rebecca Nance of Proctorville Inducted into National Honor Society

Three faculty members became honorary members and 116 students were inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, the National Honor Society at Shawnee State University on Tuesday, April 10.

Rebecca Nance, of Proctorville, qualified for membership and was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma. In order to qualify for membership, students must have a 3.5 GPA or better. Phi Eta Sigma rewards first-year students by encouraging academic excellence in institutions of higher learning.

The three faculty members inducted as honorary members are Mary Oling-Sisay, vice president of Student Affairs, of Wheelersburg, Ohio; William Rockwell, director of Student Housing and University Center, of Portsmouth, Ohio; and George Trampe, recently retired associate professor of Natural Science, of Firebrick, Ky.

Nearly 4,700 students are enrolled at SSU this year, including 35 international students. The university offers modern apartment-style residences and small class sizes with dedicated faculty.
